MORE than 500 people are expected to descend on Sale for the under 14 state winter baseball championships to be held at Stephenson Park this Saturday and Sunday.
More than 200 players will travel to Sale from across Victoria, including teams from Bendigo, Dandenong, Diamond Valley, Geelong, north-eastern Victoria, Sunraysia as well as local participants from the Latrobe Valley Baseball Association.
The championships will include 24 games and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy these school holidays including a concert by the Sale City Band.
LVBA will host a dinner for all participants on Saturday with under 14 state coach Chris Hodkinson to address the players on development paths in baseball.
Baseball Victoria chief executive Brett Hidson said he was enthusiastic about holding the championships in Sale.
“Representative teams are coming from across the state to Sale for a festival of baseball,” he said.
“The under 14 state winter championships provides our country affiliates with a chance to pit their skills against each other in fun, fair and competitive games of baseball and a chance to meet legends of the game and learn more about the sport.”
