JUST over a second separated Pauline Frasca from winning an Olympic bronze medal.
Frasca, from Sale, and teammates Dana Faletic, Kerry Hore and Amy Clay finished fourth in the final of the women’s quadruple sculls at the London Olympics.
With 500 metres of the 2000m race to go, the team was seemingly out of medal contention, more than three seconds behind the third-placed United States, but a strong finish saw the Australians finishing agonisingly close, 1.04 seconds, off the Americans. Ukraine won the gold and Germany the silver.
