Maffra women lose at home

MAFFRA defeated Nagle 2-1 at home during round 10 of East Gippsland women’s hockey.

Kahlia Hillbrich scored both goals for Maffra with Mikayla Blackshaw finding the net for Nagle.

Sale Cygnets lost to Swan Reach 5-1. Goals for Swan Reach were scored by Shana Snell (three) and Sarah Grixti (two) with Sarah Boag scoring for the Cygnets.

Wellington was outclassed by a very strong Orbost side. Orbost’s goals were scored by Stefanie Coote, Molly Coulton, Nerelle Macalister, Vicki Martin, Elly Smith and Jenny Smith.

Results of the match between Bairnsdale and the Sale Swans were not supplied.

IN the men’s, Sale defeated Swan Reach 2-1 with two goals from Matthew Benfield. Joel Barnett was Swannie’s goal scorer.

Nagle was too strong for Maffra, winning 9-0 with goals scored by Casey Mitchell, Samuel Nelson, Fraser Phillip (two each), Shane Bartlett, Ren Crunden-Smith and Connor McLean.

Orbost continued its good form with a 3-2 win at home against Bairnsdale. Brendan Coulton (two) and Ross McKenzie scored for Orbost, with Hayley Peacock and Greg Wood scoring for the visitors.

THIS Saturday, Nagle will host Swan Reach, Bairnsdale hosts Orbost, the Sale junior and the Sale Cygnets women travel across town to play Wellington at Lions Park and Maffra is at home to the Sale Swans women and Sale men.
