THE Sale Rangers will play Traralgon in the Latrobe Valley Baseball Association under 16 grand final this Sunday at Stephenson Park.
The Rangers progressed to the grand final after defeating Churchill in the preliminary final last weekend.
In what began as a tight low scoring contest, with the Braves leading 4-3 after three innings, the Rangers capitalised on fielding errors and some clutch hitting to take a 10-4 lead.
With their final inning of the season looming, the Braves kids stormed back into the game with six runs to tie up the game.
Sale had to bat to complete the innings where they came up trumps with a walk off hit, sealing a grand final berth.
JOSH Graham had two extra base hits as Traralgon took home a 7-3 victory over Moe-Newborough in the A grade preliminary final. The Redsox will play Churchill in the grand final.
Graham doubled in the fifth inning, singled in the first and sixth innings, and homered in the eighth inning.
Pitcher Nathan Simpson kept the Dodgers in the game, picking up four strike-outs in his nine-inning stint. Simpson also hit a two-run homerun in the sixth to put the Dodgers only one run behind.
Dale Simpson was the only other Dodger player to pick up two hits.
Luke Hornstra looked sharp on the mound for the Redsox when he relieved Adams in the eighth. Hornstra held Moe-Newborough hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none.
Traralgon’s Brad Adams allowed three runs over seven innings, struck out five, walked one and surrendered 11 hits.
The Redsox were sparked by Andy Matthews and Graham, who teamed up for six hits and four RBIs together.
MOE-Newborough defeated Churchill 7-2 in B grade, setting up a grand final against Traralgon.
THE C grade grand final was held last weekend, with Churchill winning 16-4.
