WY YUNG will play Lucknow for the right to play-off against reigning premier Lindenow in the East Gippsland football grand final at Bairnsdale City Oval tomorrow.
The Tigers fell three points short of booking a place in the grand final last week, and will be hoping to avoid going out in straight sets to get another crack at the reigning premier on the day that counts most. However, the Tigers will be challenged by the Magpies, who comfortably disposed of Paynesville last week to keep its season alive.
Wy Yung had a big win over Lucknow in round one, but the Magpies have the wood over the Tigers in the previous two encounters.
Lucknow scored a thrilling two-goal win in round eight and also defeated the Tigers last time they met, only to have the VCFL dock the Magpies points due to an administrative error which saw them play an under 15 permit player for three more matches than allowed.
The loss of the 12 points cost the Magpies any chance of a top two finish, who cannot be underestimated this weekend.
