Pies seek to stop Cat repeat

LINDENOW will be aiming to win back-to-back East Gippsland football premierships when it meets Lucknow in the grand final at Bairnsdale City Oval tomorrow.

Both sides have peaked at the right time of the season to set-up a tantalising contest to finish the season, with the Cats overcoming a slow start to the season to win the double chance, while the Magpies were also in the hunt to finish top two before VCFL intervention.

An administrative error saw the club field an under 15 permit player for eight matches, three more than the permit allowed, with the Magpies docked points for each of the three extra wins that the player participated in.

The Magpies have entered the grand final the hard way, accounting for Paynesville comfortably in a do or die semi-final before disposing of minor premier Wy Yung, who went out in straight sets, in the preliminary final.

The Magpies will be hoping to give coach Brad Paris, who is unable to coach the club in 2013, the ultimate send-off before Gary Jones takes the helm for next season.

The Cats will enter the grand final after a week off, winning straight through in a three point thriller against Wy Yung in the second semi, and will be looking to take home the premiership cup for the second consecutive season.

AN in form Lakes Entrance will meet a Paynesville side high on confidence in the reserves decider.

STRATFORD will play Lakes Entrance in the under 18 grand final.

STRATFORD’S D grade netballers will also be shooting for premiership glory.
