Bairnsdale Cup win all in the family

FATHER and son due of trainer John Sadler and jockey Tom Sadler won the 150th Bairnsdale Cup with Prizum on Sunday.

The $4.80 favourite jumped out of the gates into the first three for the 1600 metre journey, then enjoyed a charmed run, sitting in fourth place, one off the fence before heading toward the outside fence on the home turn.

Prizum won by less than a length from second favourite Forty Thirty and Oregan Spirit.

During the post-race interview, John Sadler held-back tears as he paid tribute to his son, who rose to plan, and the horse’s owners.
