A SEVEN-wicket haul to Ben Fielding helped Bairnsdale to a big win over an undermanned Alberton in round one of the Gippsland Cricket League.
Fielding’s 7-24 helped restrict Alberton to just 43, with Aaron Cameron cleaning up the tail to finish with 3-1.
Taylor Reid was the only Alberton batsman to reach double figures, scoring more than half of the total with 22.
Bairnsdale made short work of the run chase, eventually bowled out for 273.
Sean Phillipson led the way with 51, while Harry Lovell scored 47.
Harry Moore and Damien Quigley picked up four wickets each for Alberton.
A CENTURY to Gavin Britt helped Leongatha to victory over Traralgon.
Britt’s 127, along with 67 from Dylan Clark, helped Leongatha to 283.
Jarrod Allan took four wickets for Traralgon, while Brad Knowles and Shaun Barbour picked up three wickets each.
Traralgon managed 185 in reply with Lee Stockdale leading the way with 65.
Barry Wyatt was pick of the bowlers for Leongatha with 4-46.
AN unbeaten 107 from Dean Hamilton and eight wicket haul to Brad Wadlan helped Warragul to a big win over Central Gippsland.
Hamilton’s century helped Warragul post 7-274.
George McKinley was the only multiple wicket taker for Central Gippsland with 3-42.
Sixty-two from Daniel Siddle wasn’t enough as Central Gippsland was bowled out for 130 in reply.
Wadlan was the chief destroyer with the ball for Warragul with 8-21.
SALE-Maffra had the bye, its first match will be against Central Gippsland at the College Oval on November 18.
