GIPPSLAND Grammar Barbarians defeated Switched On Installations nine tries to four the last round of Sale and District touch before the finals.
The Barbarians’s win was set-up with a 6-1 first half with the match played at a slower pace than expected from these two talented teams.
Andrew Nicholas scored three tries in his best game for the season for the Barbarians, while Logan Deschepper and Jake Meade scored made two and Tom Hogben and Jamie McIntosh one each.
For Switched On, Joel Mortimer scored two tries, Andrew Burns and Corey Siebel one each.
Best players were Nicholas, McIntosh, Mortimer, Meade, Lexi Joyce and Elizabeth Neilson.
PORTY’S Pines defeated CAT’s 7-3.
The Werahiko family played a vital part in the CAT’s structure with Chad and Jalen scoring a try each, while Kerrie Shotter scored the other try. Craig Roberts and Leigh Mawley each scored two tries for Porky’s with one each to Brady Canny, Andrea Christie and Steve Wright.
Best players were Wright, Michael Bake, Gavin Roberts, Christie and Alyssa Stanley.
PHOENIX finished the season winning its last two games. This week it defeated the Gippsland Grammar Swans 6-4.
Clinton Glover scored three tries for Pheonix, while Ursula Barnsley, Mick Eglington and Kate Laskowski each scored one. Devonn Sissing scored three for the Swans and Tom Murphy one.
Best players were Glover, David Commins, Matthew Lever, Annemieke Ingram and Laskowski. Jake Joyce won the encouragement award.
CHUMPIES forfeited to Touches of Anarchy.
THE finals begin Wednesday night in A and B divisions.
CAT’s has taken out the C division title and will not play tomorrow night.
