Marist cricket carnival this week

CATHOLIC College Sale is hosting the Marist Cricket Carnival this week.

Teams from Marist schools across Australia, Bunbury, Western Australia; Casino, New South Wales; Canberra; Adelaide and Shepparton, will arrive today to participate in the week-long carnival.

Catholic College has received great support from a number of Sale-Maffra cricket clubs, who have provided turf wickets, clubrooms and host families to billet the 70 visiting players.

The CCS team will again be coached by Jim Sutton and assisted by Chris Smart.

The team will be captained by Mitchell Evans with Brenton Rees and Taylor Tatterson vice-captains. Also in team are Cooper Hall, Daniel Fleming, Jayden Allison, Dylan Rowley, Tom Love, Tom Langshaw, Jack Reitchel, Jack Goodwin, Cormac Hassett and Jesse Collins.

The team is quite strong with most players having experience at interleague level. Tatterson will play the first three games before heading off to Tasmania to join the Victorian under 17 team at the national championships.

The team is keen to overcome the disappointment of being denied carnival victory by rain in New Zealand last summer. Given good weather, the boys and supporters are looking forward a great week of entertaining cricket.
