Big win for CCS to finish carnival

CATHOLIC College Sale finished the Marist Cricket Carnival with a big scoring win over Sacred Heart Adelaide.

The win at Maffra on Monday helped CCS finish fourth, equal on points with second-placed Bunbury Catholic College and third-placed Marist College Canberra.

CCS scored an impressive 7-296 from its 50 overs.

After openers Cormack Hassett and Cooper Hall beginning the innings well, making 46 and 37 respectively, Jayden Allison scored 52, captain Mitch Evans 44 and Tom Langshaw 62 not out to set Adelaide a challenging target.

Adelaide’s innings never got going, reduced to 2-2 early and eventually bowled out for 154 in 40 overs. Brenton Rees and Jack Goodwin took three wickets each for CCS.

Notre Dame went through the carnival undefeated to finish first.
