PREDICTED warm weather has led to the Racing Victoria bringing forward the start times for Thursday’s race meeting at Greenwattle Racecourse.
The meeting, originally scheduled to begin at 1pm, will now be held from noon.
Because of low acceptances, the final race has been deleted from the program and the seven-race card will conclude at 3.20pm.
Intervals between races have been reduced with the first two races of the day being held at 30-minute intervals and the remaining five at 35-minute intervals.
Racing Victoria racing general manager Greg Carpenter said the organisation was committed to the safety and wellbeing of horses, jockeys and other participants, which remains its priority in hot weather conditions.
“The meeting has been brought forward due to predicted weather conditions at Sale which are expected to approach 37 degrees Celsius,” he said.
“Our discussions with the Bureau of Meteorology indicate that bringing the races forward and the reduced seven race card will avoid the predicted warmest part of the day.
“The meeting was originally scheduled to commence at 1pm and conclude by 5.20pm but under the new arrangements the last race will run at 3.20pm.”
