State league netball in Sale

THE Sale 17 and under netball team will play East Gippsland at the Gippsland Regional Sports Complex in Sale this Sunday during round three of the Eastern Regional State League.

The 2012 premier is yet to open its account in 2013 as the side struggles to adjust to a number of new players.

Against Alberton in round two last Friday, both teams had an even first quarter but Sale couldn’t back it up in the second quarter with Alberton going into half-time an eight-goal lead.

To Sale’s credit, it was able to win the second half, but Alberton held for seven-goal win, 46-39.

Sale will play East Gippsland this Sunday at GRSC from 12.30pm.

In round two, East Gippsland was outclassed by North Gippsland, 42-20, but should be pleased with its continued improvement.

Mid Gippsland is proving to be a solid force, this time defeating the highly-fancied GippslandMid Gippsland doubled Gippsland’s score, winning the match 50-25.

ALSO at GRSC this Sunday, East Gippsland will play North Gippsland in the open division from 2pm.

East Gippsland will be confident after a 45-22 win over Churchill Indoor, which was making its debut in the competition.

East went into the second half with a three-goal lead and continued on its merry way from there to win by 23.

Now two wins from two matches, East has a renewed defence line and Danielle Ryan was rewarded for her efforts in the backline being named best-on-court against Churchill.

Gippsland continued its dominant style against inexperienced opponent Mid Gippsland White, winning 71-27, however will have its work cut out this Friday when it meets another undefeated team in Mid Gippsland Green.

Mid Gippsland maintained its unbeaten start to the season with a 54-47 win over Alberton.
