Swans draw with Falcons

SALE United drew 1-1 with Falcons in Morwell on Saturday night to remain in third place on the Gippsland Soccer League ladder.

Mauro De Luca put Falcons in front in the first half before Jon Piefke levelled the scores during the second half.

The Swans are one of only three teams yet to taste defeat after five rounds.

Leader Churchill United defeated bottom-placed Tyers 4-0.

Moe United maintained second place with a 2-1 away win over Fortuna.

Monash and Traralgon Olympians drew 3-3 with Ash Birrell scoring a hat-trick for the Generals.

Traralgon City and Newborough-Yallourn United drew 1-1.

PLAY in the GSL will take a break this weekend for the first round of the Battle of Britain Cup.

Falcons will host Tyers and Monash will host Newborough-Yallourn this Sunday in the only matches, which Sale United one of six teams having a bye.

The Sale women’s team will host Falcons in the first round of the Browne-Huizer Cup from 11am.
