JENNY McGuiness scored five goals as Sale was able to secure a solid 6-0 away victory against Nagle during round three of East Gippsland women’s hockey.
Belinda Coulton scored the other Sale goal.
Maffra recorded a 5-0 win at Orbost with goals from Caitlyn Frisina, Kate Ingram, Meaghan Mogridge, Kate O’Toole and Kate Steinman.
Beck Corden and Saraha Grixti scored five goals each as Swan Reach was too strong for a severely-undermanned Wellington, winning 18-0. Katie Tong and Sarah Whitechurch scored two goals each, while Nicole Creaser, Jude Lunny, Lisa Pruscino and Danae Murrell scored one each.
IN the men’s competition, Sale struggled with the colder, blustery conditions with Nagle winning 3-0. Goals were scored by Oscar Crunden-Smith, Bryan Smith and Leah Livingstone.
A badly-undermanned Maffra lost to Orbost 16-0. Brendan Coulton scored seven goals, Ross Mackenzie three, Mike Irvine and Ash Jonkers two each and Sam Matthews and Elly Smith one each.
Swan Reach had an 18-0 win over Wellington, who has re-entered the men’s competition with an inexperienced side. Simon Murrell scored seven goals, Dale Murrell three, Damien Snell, David Tong and Jonathon Knight two each, and Matthew Cunninghame and Michael Tong one each.
ON Saturday, Maffra will travel to Wellington, Orbost will host Nagle and Bairnsdale will host Sale. Swan Reach will have a bye.
