Braves too strong for Rangers

THE Sale Rangers lost to the Churchill Braves 9-0 during round four of Latrobe Valley baseball.

The Braves scored in the first inning at Morwell on Sunday. The Rangers were in a good position to at least level the scores with runners on second and third base on only one out, but failed to score after two players were struck out to end the first inning.

Churchill put the pressure on in the third, scoring four runs off some good hitting and a couple of Sale errors.

Again the Rangers got runners on first and second base with only one out, but failed to score with two more strike-outs following.

The Braves scored another run in the fourth due simply to a poor throw.

No runs were added during the next five innings due to good pitching and fielding by both teams.

Churchill then added three runs to finish the game.

The Traralgon Redsox remain undefeated on top of the A grade ladder after a 13-3 win over the Moe-Newborough Dodgers.

This Sunday, the Sale Rangers will play their first match at home this season when they host Traralgon from 2pm.
