Comfortable win for Paynesville

PAYNESVILLE scored a comfortable victory over Wy Yung to keep its four-point buffer at the top of the table in tact after eight rounds of East Gippsland football.

The Gulls got out to an early 20-point lead before running out 22-point victors, 14.7 (91) to 10.9 (69).

Haydn Robins and Derek Hayes were again damaging for Paynesville, booting seven goals between them, while Ashley Pescod kicked three goals in a best-on-ground performance.

Matt Counahan led the scoring for Wy Yung with three majors, while Kane Thomson and Bairnsdale listed Kane Ashwood were the Tigers’ best.

Magpies account for Blues

LUCKNOW returned to the winners’ list, accounting for Orbost-Snowy Rovers.

After a tight first term, the Magpies opened up a five-goal lead at half-time before running out 29-point victors, 14.15 (99) to 10.10 (70).

Brenton Martin kicked four goals for the Magpies, while coach Gary Jones booted three.

Deon Scott was the only multiple goal scorer for the Blues with three.

Lakes posts first win

LAKES Entrance broke through for its first win of the season, comfortably accounting for Lindenow.

Macy Hambrook, with six goals, and James and Jesse Beha all fired in front of goal as the Seagulls ran out 52-point victors, 22.11 (143) to 12.19 (91).

Travis Lawson and Justin Blair kicked two goals each in an undermanned Lindenow side.
