SALE United’s has fallen to fourth place on the Gippsland Soccer League ladder after a 4-3 loss to Monash on Sunday.
Monash claimed third place with the victory at Newborough.
The sides were level at 2-2 before the home side took control of the match in the second half with two goals to the Swans’ one.
Robert Stephen, Jon Piefke and Ashley Ross scored for Sale, while Daryn Cummings, Jamie Green, Coen Slaughter and Ashley Birrell scored for Monash.
Fifth-placed Fortuna closed the gap to fourth place to two points after a 2-1 win over Traralgon Olympians.
Paul Riess scored a hat-trick in Churchill United’s 5-0 win over Traralgon City.
Fortuna defeated Tyers 5-0.
Moe United won a tough local derby against Newborough-Yallourn 2-1.
THIS Sunday, Sale United will host Falcons.
Also on Sunday, Newborough-Yallourn will host Traralgon City, Olympians will host Monash, Fortuna will head to Moe, and Churchill will play at Tyers.
