SALE United’s chase for a place in the Gippsland Soccer League finals will come down to the final round this Sunday.
The Swans are currently in fourth place, trailing third-placed Monash on goal difference but are only a point ahead of Fortuna, who is fifth.
The Swans last weekend defeated bottom-placed Tyers 4-1.
Raymond Allred scored a hat-trick, while Nathi Khamchom scored the other goal.
The Swans were a man down for much of the match after goalkeeper Chris Richardson sent off early in the first half after colliding with a Tyers players outside the penalty area.
The battle for the last two places in the GSL finals will come to an end this Sunday with Sale United hosting ninth-placed Newborough-Yallourn United and Monash playing Monash, who is sixth. On Saturday night, Fortuna will host top side Churchill United.
For the second round in a row, Churchill United missed the chance to seal the premiership after a 1-0 loss at home to second-placed Moe United. Jason Koppen scored the winning goal to keep the Red Devils’ hopes of stealing the title this weekend.
Now two points behind Churchill, who will play Fortuna, Moe will host Traralgon.
In other matches last weekend, Fortuna defeated Falcons 4-2, Monash was too strong for Newborough-Yallourn, winning 6-0, and Traralgon Olympians defeated neighbour Traralgon City 3-0.
Olympians and Tyers will meet this Sunday in the only match which will not have a bearing on the make-up of the top four.
