SWAN Reach claimed its second consecutive East Gippsland women’s hockey premiership, inflicting Sale’s first defeat of the season in the grand final.
Swan Reach caused the sensation of grand final day at Orbost with its 2-1 win. Shana Snell and Jessica Adams scored to Swan Reach, while Julieanne Nicholls scored for Sale.
Swan Reach’s Sarah Grixti was named the player of the match.
SWAN Reach’s men’s team added to the club’s celebrations, causing another surprise in defeating Nagle 2-1.
Player of the match Damian Snell and Michael Tong scored for the premiers, while Jack Bowden scored for Nagle.
NAGLE also took out two premierships, winning the under 13s and 18s.
In the under 13s, Nagle had a 3-0 win over Maffra, whose age had an average age of nine.
The two recent matches between the teams had been very close, creating great anticipation, however, on the day Nagle proved too strong.
The match remained tight until half-way through the second half when Nagle took control. Max Bowden had an outstanding match for Nagle, scoring all three goals and taking out the player of the match award.
IN the under 18s, Nagle defeated Orbost 3-0 with goals from Oscar Crunden-Smith, Ren Crunden-Smith and Jack Pawata.
The player of the match award went to Orbost’s Tim Osborn.
BAIRNSDALE had dominated the under 15 competition this year, and the grand final went according to form, with the side defeating Nagle 9-0.
Riley Simpson scored five goals, Zach Coulton three and Kai McKeown one goal for Bairnsdale.
Despite the scoreline, the player of the match award went to Nagle player Keanu Gilbert-Down.
