JOCKEY Ryan Maloney had a day to remember on Sunday at Glenview Park, riding half the winners, including in the $50,000 Traralgon Cup.
Maloney won the feature race aboard Severn Road for Geelong training partners Jamie Edwards and Bruce Elkington.
Maloney’s expertise was crucial in getting Severn Road home narrowly from the outside barrier in the 10-horse field for the 1900 metre race. He had the five-year-old one off the fence heading out of the straight the first time before improving three-wide when runs came from the back at the 600m.
Severn Road took his time reeling in frontrunner Alrouz, nabbing him in the final 50m before holding off a late surge from Suspended Gem.
It was Severn Road’s sixth win in 27 starts.
The Traralgon Cup success was the last of Moloney’s four wins of the day.
