Nothing between RK and Sale

ROSEDALE-Kilmany and Sale played out a thrilling tie in round 10 of Sale-Maffra cricket.

Matt Raidal fired in the throw to Sale wicket-keeper Callum Polo to run out Jack Holt, who attempted to complete the winning run.

Hayden Glover could only watch on from the non-striker’s end as Ben Jones closed it out for Sale, removing Ian Freshwater and Isaac Love before the run out on the final ball of the match to see it finish in a tie.

With one run to get, Ian Freshwater and Isaac Love both fell in the attempt to get the winning runs, with Freshwater bowled and Polo completing a good stumping to remove Love.

Earlier, Jarrod Moxley proved the mainstay of the Sale innings, batting well with the tail with his unbeaten 78 helping Sale to a competitive total of 137.

Wickets to Glover, Brad Scott and Holt had the Warriors on top early before Moxley combined with captain Ian Wrigglesworth to steady from 4-13.

Run outs through the middle of Sale’s innings didn’t help its cause, with Wrigglesworth run out for 23. After combining with Glover to remove Wrigglesworth, Ian Freshwater produced a direct hit to remove Jones before Leigh Freshwater got in on the act with a direct hit to remove Lucas Mowat for 11.

Craig Alcock also contributed to restricting Sale, returning the figures of 3-17 from eight overs.

Steady partnerships saw the Warriors edge closer to the required total of 138.

Leigh Freshwater and Alcock combined, taking the score to 53 and the Warriors looked well on the way to victory before Nico Watt hit back for Sale. Polo produced his first dismissal for the game, stumping Leigh Freshwater with some good wicket-keeping before Watt produced a direct hit run out to send Alcock on his way.

Joel Dyer held onto a return catch to send Adam Diamond on his way and when Jones picked up the key wicket of Scott, Sale had pulled it back to 4-87.

Sam Lucas-Laws and Rohan Diamond combined to give the Warriors the ascendency, taking the score to 125 before Sale hit back again, removing them in quick succession.

Ben Howes got the initial breakthrough, knocking over Rohan Diamond before Watt was again in the game with a direct hit run out to remove Lucas-Laws.

Jones closed out the game well, removing Ian Freshwater and Love, finishing with 3-16 with the match finishing in a thrilling tie after a full 80 overs of one-day cricket.
