Long weekend racing

GREENWATTLE Racecourse will host an Australia Day weekend race meeting tomorrow.

There will be free admission for children as well as free, supervised activities, including hockey, football handpass, golf putting, crazy cricket, handball, soccer, circus workshop, frisbee plus the old favourites such as treasure hunt, tug of war, sack races, egg and spoon races and three legged races.

For the adults there is food and drink available and spacious lawns on which to spread the picnic rug.

On track, Ian Hutchins has Miss Procyon well-placed in a 0-58 mares race over 1400 metres. After her creditable run in town and with the services of Steven King she should run a great race.

Sam Pritchard-Gordon has a good team entered and it is hitting its straps at the right time.

Matt Laurie has an interesting High Chaparral colt entered for the 1700m maiden in Irish Medley with Jake Noonan doing the riding. He has placed three of five starts and could be good value.
