United back on winners’ list

AFTER three weeks without a victory, Sale United returned to the Gippsland Soccer League winners’ list last weekend.

The Swans defeated Morwell Pegasus 4-0 away to maintain a seven-point gap to top side Churchill United.

The visitors scored through Dean Nichols, Slade Whitfield, Ash Ross and Tommy Nguyen.

Churchill United came from 1-0 down at half-time to defeat Monash 2-1.

Moe United moved into third place with a 6-1 win at home over Traralgon Olympians. Luke Bathgate scored a hat-trick for the Red Devils.

Previously in-form Fortuna surrendered third place after an 4-1 loss to Traralgon City.

Newborough-Yallourn United defeated Tyers 1-0, increasing the margin to the bottom-placed Lightning to seven points.

Falcons had the bye.

SALE United will head to Newborough this Sunday to play seventh-placed Monash.

Also on Sunday, Newborough-Yallourn will host Moe, Fortuna will be at home against Tyers, and Traralgon City will host Pegasus.

Falcons will host Churchill on Saturday night.

Olympians will have the bye.
