Hiker Niels Becker has been missing in the High Country for more than a week.

Hiker Niels Becker has been missing in the High Country for more than a week.

POLICE are continuing to search the Victorian High Country for missing hiker Niels Becker.

On Wednesday morning there were more than 70 people searching, including police on the ground and Air Wing, with assistance from the State Emergency Service, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, and Bush Search and Rescue.

The 39-year-old Hampton man left Upper Jamieson Hut on October 24, intending to walk to the Macalister Springs area.

He texted family from the Valejo Ganther Hut on October 26, saying he intended to head next to Mount Stirling.

It is not clear what route he was planning to take to get there.

He was due back at his vehicle October 29, but has not made it back.

Mr Becker is a competent hiker, and was believed to be well equipped for the walk and familiar with the area, however police and his family are concerned he hasn't returned to his vehicle.

Police would like to speak to anyone who has seen Mr Becker during his travels, and urge them to phone Mansfield police station on 5775 2555.
