WELLINGTON police will conduct a vehicle check point operation along Traralgon-Maffra Rd Friday and Saturday as part of a crackdown on people travelling to regional areas.
The operation will target anyone from metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire who is travelling for any reason other than one of the four prescribed by the Chief Health Officer.
Anyone who is found to be in deliberate and blatant breach of the Chief Health Officer's directions will be fined.
Local police are aware of concerns in the community about residents from metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire travelling into regional locations.
Reports of suspected travel breaches or breaches of public health restrictions, such as isolation, mass gatherings or business breaches can be made via the online reporting tool.
People found breaching the directions of the Chief Health Officer will be issued with fines.
