POLICE are investigating three deliberately lit grass fires in Heyfield on Tuesday night between River and Bessant Sts.
One of the fires travelled 50 metres along the roadside before it was extinguished.
Two of the three fires were lit at about 5.30pm and the other about 7.15pm.
Police said there was no evidence of accelerants and culprits would have needed to pile dry grass, leaves, twigs and bark to light in order for the green grass to catch alight.
Police want to speak to the driver of a green, older model, four wheel drive, that was seen in the vicinity of Bessant St about 5.30pm on Tuesday.
