LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
TO the person driving their blue Mazda into Maffra on Thursday at about 1.30pm, your decision to reach for your phone rather concentrate on the road, nearly cost my wife and son their lives.
Your car at the time was on the wrong side of the road but you didn’t know that, did you?
It happened all so fast, didn’t it?
Pity, the consequences of you valuing a phone call more than the lives of my wife and son would last a lifetime.
It’s time for people who value their mobile phones over the lives and safety of other road users should not be fined, they should have their cars impounded and their licences suspended like hoons, but these people are loons and require much harsher penalties to keep our families safe.
Get off the road – and stay off.
