Trains are still arriving late 50 years on

FIFTY-four years ago I was posted to, then, West Germany for four years.

During that time I travelled several times on inter-city trains and on German international trains.

Trains arrived at every station en route to the exact scheduled time and departed two minutes later, reaching the ultimate destination precisely on time.

I travelled from Cologne to Paris, a distance of about 480kms, several times and never a minute late.

Melbourne to Sale is about half the distance, but arrival times are unreliable.

Has the our country rail authority not learned anything in the last half century?
