Digging deep for Dean

A CENTURY from Cameron White and a bowling spell from umpire Steve Zimmer were the highlights from Bundalaguah Cricket Club’s Day for Dean.

The fundraiser, supporting young Dean Devisser’s family as he recovers from a severe head injury received during a training accident, attracted hundreds of spectators on Sunday.

Teams made up of club veterans, led by Trevor Wrigglesworth, and young guns, captained by Ben Saxon, played a casual game with plenty of big hits from former international captain White.

Bundalaguah Cricket Club representative Craig Brideson said it was a fun day for a good cause.

“We’ve raised more than $17,000 so far, and a lot of that came from yesterday,” he said.

“(Dean’s) recovery’s going really well he was in a coma for almost two weeks, he had brain surgery, but it was good to see him there.”

Trev’s All-Stars managed to win the day in the second last over, in an exciting finish.

The club thanked the cricketing community for all its support, as well as local businesses which donated goods for auction.
