IN-STEP Dance School, Sale was crowned winner of the Community Excellence Award in the National Ready Set Dance Awards for 2022.

Principal Melissa Hall travelled to Sydney for the annual Ready Set Dance Conference, which was attended by over 250 studio owners from across Australia and New Zealand, where the awards were announced on Sunday, June 25.

“It’s a tremendous achievement that our team has been recognised for being a part of our local community and sharing our love of dance through our participation in community events,” Ms Hall said.

“This is our third time being a finalist in the Ready Set Dance Awards – and for the first time in multiple categories – and is an incredible honour to be recognised as a winner given the calibre of entrants from dance studios across Australia.”

The school was also nominated for Best Regional Studio of the Year, Ready Set Move with Me Studio of the Year, and Magical Moment.

Teacher Gemma Cranwell was also a finalist for Ready Set Ballet Teacher of the Year for the second year running.

Ms Hall said that with over 250 dance studio locations across Australia, it was a great achievement to be among the finalists, which include larger schools in metro capital cities.

“We introduced the Ready Set Dance curriculum to our dance school in 2018 and have been amazed at the joy it provides our students with introducing essential dance skills while promoting the three ‘C’s of Confidence, Coordination and Creativity,” she said.

“With the introduction of our brand new Move with Me program, where 1-3 year olds participate in a class with their caregiver, our students have thrived after having limited opportunities outside of the family home after the past two years.”

In-Step Dance School has been providing dance classes in Sale for the past 18 years.

The Ready Set Dance program is specifically designed for 1-5 year olds and students have been active in the local community performing at events including the recent Baby’s Day Out and Gippsland Art Galleries Kids Art Project, as well as enjoying visits to Ashleigh House, Gwenfa Hampton Kindergarten and Kath Foley Children’s Centre & Kindergarten.
