SALE and District Greyhound Racing Club recently held its annual awards night, at which racing participants were recognised for their outstanding efforts throughout the past 12 months.

The night also provided opportunity for the club to present its annual Community Grants to local not-for-profit organisations, charities and sporting clubs, totalling more than $30,000.

The event was highlighted by reigning AFL premiership coach Simon Goodwin accepting an invitation to be a special guest.

Goodwin inspired the room with his story of the Demons’ rise to the top of the AFL.

The good news for Melbourne fans is that Goodwin also expects the 2021 premiers to be real contenders for the next five to seven years.

Successful applicants of the Community Grants were: Rosedale Neighbourhood House, Lake Wellington Yacht Club, Stratford Bowls Club, Rotary Club of Sale, Golden Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Longford Tennis Club, Gwenfa Hampton Kindergarten, Maffra Neighbourhood House and Rosedale Public Hall – Mens Shed.
