WITH what can only be described as a tightly scheduled programme in the last couple of weeks, the Sale Ladies Probus Club has been enjoying themselves with a mid-monthly luncheon at Lakeside Sale Bowls Club.

The next luncheon will be at Sale RSL on Thursday, August 11, at noon.

The Mystery Bus Trip on July 19 with Graeme Mowbray, as driver and guide, would have to be described literally as the epicentre in the Middle of Everywhere. The ladies were requested to wear their beanies, not knowing where their trip would take them. It started from the Sale Signal Box and headed along the highway to Stratford, stopping at the museum, with morning tea at the park while viewing murals.

Back onto the highway, the bus weaved through the landscape and towns such as Upper Maffra, Heyfield, timber mills, through Toongabbie and stopped for lunch at Glengarry Hotel.

After a long drive through Flynn via Loy Yang and the Open Cut Mine, their last stop at Rosedale enabled the ladies to disembark for their own choice of afternoon tea.

Marg Litaize won the prize for the best beanie. It was such a happy day with an expectation of more bus trips!

Sale Ladies Probus activities coordinators are organising a High Tea with Timeless Memories on Wednesday, August 31 at 11am. Reservations and payments close on Thursday, August 11, and can be made to Marilyn Byrne on 0419 344 024.

Our monthly meeting was held on Monday, July 25, at Graze, Sale Greyhounds. It was pleasing to see new visitors attending. Floris Andersen was our latest inductee and several ladies received their 15 years of service membership badges.

Joseph Frawley was the guest speaker, sharing his life story, including his occupational interests in ‘Making Life Meaningful’ of Celebrancy, Joseph’s presentation was well received by the ladies with time for questions.

Merle Rainey presented Mr Frawley with a memento from Sale Ladies Probus Club.

The next Sale Ladies Probus meeting will be held at 10am on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Graze, Sale Greyhounds.

Please arrive 15 minutes earlier to sign in. New members are always welcome. Phone Jan Kewley for membership enquiries on 0427 463 490.

Home alone? Lonely?

No need

Sale Senior Citizens’ Centre is a community group providing activities for seniors (55 years plus).

We encourage everyone to come along, have a look and, if you like what you see, join us.

Meet new friends, enjoy weekly activities as well as monthly outings, usually alternating between local and greater Gippsland venues.

Our regular sessions are on Mondays (bingo) and Fridays (carpet bowls, cards and snooker).

The club, on the corner of Macalister and Desailly Streets. Sale, opens at 1pm with activities starting at 1:30pm and finishing at 3pm followed by a cuppa, biscuits and a chat.

Our rooms are well heated and cosy in winter and air conditioned in summer so comfort is guaranteed.

Bingo on Mondays is called at a slower pace than commercial games, with numbers projected onto a large screen for those with vision and hearing problems.

Activities on Fridays are cards (500 and Klaverjas) carpet bowls and snooker.

All welcome.
