Update: With severe weather on the way Heyfield Food & Wine Festival has been postponed until 2023.
Returning after a two-year break, the Heyfield Traders & Tourism Association (HTTA) will once again host the Heyfield Food & Wine Festival on Sunday, October 16, with this year’s event promising to be bigger and better than ever.
The festival appeals to participants of all ages, showcasing the best produce Gippsland has to offer whilst providing a fabulous day out in a great rural town.
The previous Food & Wine Festivals have proven to be an outstanding success, growing yearly, with attendance numbers now in the hundreds.
In 2017, the Wellington Shire Council recognised the event as the Community Event of the Year.
This year, the festival will expand as organisers use a larger site at the Gordon Street Reserve in Heyfield.
The area is larger and flatter, accommodating more patrons and store holders, offering non-edible artisan and high-quality handmade products, increasing the festival’s variety, and local top-quality wine producers such as Glenmaggie Wines.
Festival goers can expect to be entertained with live music from the band, The Boneyard Blonds, and local singer-songwriter Harry Hook.
There will also be children’s activities, including face painting, a jumping castle and a petting zoo; there really is something for everyone.
HTTA president Jamie Riley said, “it’s just wonderful to have the Food & Wine Festival back and to give Heyfield the opportunity to host another large event, with lots of variety and space for patrons to enjoy themselves.”
“After some consultation, we have also changed the time of the event, so it now starts at 12 noon and finishes at 5pm, and if you’re travelling from Sale or Traralgon, you can book a seat on our bus, knowing you can enjoy the event and get home safely.
“Early booking is recommended as spaces are limited,” Mr Riley added.
Tickets for the event and the bus are available via Trybooking through the following link: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/943869.
Early bird online tickets cost $12, tickets at the gate $15, and entry is free for those under 16.
Bus tickets are $10 and must be booked with your festival ticket online.
