Free Food Fridays at Airly Primary

Students enjoy a fruit platter.

Students and staff at Airly Primary School have enjoyed Free Food Fridays this term. Each Friday, classes are given fruit platters, snacks and assist in making a healthy choice lunch. Subsidised through the state government’s mental health fund, menu choices are influenced by the school’s vegetable garden.

Most recently, students have watered, snacked on, harvested, bagged, weighed and prepped kilos of self-seeded cherry tomatoes. Ideally, the school’s garden will become a place where the community can share produce.

The gardens and school will be open for the wider community on October 12 this year as Airly Primary School celebrates a centenary of Excellence in Learning.
