A positive V/Line story

HERE is another V/Line story, and no, it’s not another strike, but community goodwill within our local Gippsland Line stations.

In late February, Traralgon resident John Beasley’s wife accidentally left something on the train on the way to Dandenong due to an enticing conversation with the conductor onboard.

Off goes the rails; when she arrived at her destination, John received a distressed call from his wife about the loss of luggage on the trip.

“She got off at Dandenong, caught a bus to Frankston and got to Frankston to realise that she had left her iPad on the train. She rang me and told me. I then rang V/Line and found their lost property office,” John said.

Throughout the day, John kept in touch with the Traralgon lost property office and the Traralgon train station about the iPad and its whereabouts.

Later that night, John was able to receive the lost electronic and happily returned it to his wife.

On the Friday after the event, John and his wife dropped off some chocolates to the station and the office.

John told the Gippsland Times, “I just want to tell the world a good news story. You don’t get many good news stories from the public transport systems. Both the conductor and the train staff were brilliant that day.”
