Armed robbery and police pursuit

POLICE have charged a woman following an alleged armed robbery and theft of a vehicle at a supermarket car park in Traralgon Wednesday morning.

It is alleged a woman threatened a female shopper with a screwdriver before stealing her car about 8.30am.

The stolen Honda sedan was located by police at 12.10pm travelling west on the South Gippsland Highway in Toora.

A short pursuit was initiated before being terminated by police for safety reasons.

The Honda was located by the police air wing and the woman arrested about 1.30pm following the use of stop sticks at Pound Creek.

A 30-year-old woman has been charged with armed robbery and numerous traffic offences.

She was remanded to appear at the Morwell Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A 16-year-old girl has been released and will be charged by summons at a later time.
