Beach drowning

POLICE will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of a man at Venus Bay on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Number Four Beach about 2.45pm after reports of two people in trouble in the water.

Police were told three men entered the water at the beach.

One made it safely back to shore but two others got into distress.

A second male managed to make it back to shore and was treated by Ambulance Victoria officers.

The third man was located non-responsive in the water by members of the Venus Bay Surf Life Saving Club and taken back to the beach.

Ambulance Victoria officers and Surf Life Saving Club members conducted CPR on the man but he was unable to be revived.
