THE eastbound lane on the Sale-Maffra Road was closed for several hours Wednesday night after a two vehicle collision at The Boulevard intersection about 5.50pm.
A female driver, aged in her early twenties, turning right from The Boulevard towards Sale is alleged to have failed to give way to a car travelling towards Maffra.
The driver of the other car, a male aged in his late teens to early twenties, swerved but still connected with the woman’s car and ran into a light pole on the opposite side of the road.
Police said the light pole fell onto the road and Ausnet Services were called to turn off the power because there were live wires.
The female driver was taken to Central Gippsland Health Service, Sale, for observation. She will receive an infringement notice for failing to give way.
Police said both lanes were closed for a short amount of time and the east bound lane remained closed until about 8pm.
