A SALE man was arrested while celebrating his birthday after police allegedly found him in possession of counterfeit money on Monday night.
Wellington Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested the man at a hotel in Raymond St, Sale, on Monday evening.
The arrest followed the use of a number of counterfeit notes in the town on Friday.
The 31-year-old man has been charged with attempt to obtain property by deception, obtaining property by deception, utter counterfeit money under the Commonwealth (currency) Act, possession of counterfeit money, possess methamphetamine and resist police.
A 25-year-old Sale woman was also arrested and has been charged with obtain property by deception, possession of counterfeit money and utter counterfeit money under the Commonwealth (currency) Act.
The pair was bailed by police to appear at Sale Magistrates’ Court on April 7.
