MORE than 140 firearms, ammunition and weapons have been seized after police executed an evidence warrant at a Giffard West property on Monday.
A 60-year-old Giffard West man was arrested by police on Sunday, faced an out of session court Sunday night and was charged with one count of possessing unregistered firearms.
The man was remanded to appear at Sale Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Police attended the man’s property on Sunday for an unrelated matter when they discovered the large cache of weapons.
The Australian Defence Force was called in to assist police with the disposal of the firearms and weapons on Monday.
It is unknown why the man had possession of the large number of firearms, ammunition and weaponry.
A GIFFARD West man faced court on Monday after police allegedly found more than 140 firearms, ammunition and military weapons on his Frouds Rd property on Sunday.
Edwin Reid, aged 60, has been bailed to appear at the Sale Magistrates’ Court on October 13 for a further mention.
Police were called to the man’s property on Sunday for an unrelated matter when they allegedly discovered guns and other weapons in a locked shipping container.
Among the cache of items, police allegedly found assorted military and civilian rifles and shotguns.
The man faced an out-of-session court on Sunday night after being charged with one count of possessing unregistered firearms.
Police said all of the weapons, guns and ammunition had been removed from the property, with Australian Defence Force help.
