A group of 13-year-olds have just completed their Surf Rescue Certificate at the Seaspray Surf Life Saving Club, which enables them to patrol the beach and learn from the more experienced members of the club.

The certificate teaches them about work place health and safety, the human body, first aid and resuscitation, communication and team work as well as beach management signals, communication, rip currents, rescue techniques and other essential patrol procedures.

Ten youths have qualified, who have started to patrol, and there are another two who will complete the qualification in the near future.
