RELATED: Bulldogs brilliant against Heyfield
WHEN the final siren went in Saturday’s North Gippsland netball grand final, Woodside coach Kristy Lucas was unaware of the score.
“I had no idea where we were in time,” she said.
“I was preparing for time-on, because I actually thought it was a draw.”
Woodside and Rosedale were neck-and-neck for much of the game and were tied 45-45 going into the final minute.
The Wildcats sealed the match with 30 seconds left.
“There were a few moments in that game where Rosedale looked to have momentum and everyone kept digging and digging to get that ball down to our attacking end,” Lucas said.
“Carly Foat, who’s one of our experienced defenders, she kept that defensive end going and dictating play.
“In the attack end, Andrea Foat positioned herself well to take some easy goals.”
Blues captain Bron Tebb was named best-on-court, with coach Staci Scott paying tribute to her performance.
“She’s a very strong girl, she’s our captain, she leads by example,” Scott said.
“For her to get that individual reward of best-on-ground, we were all so proud of her because she did do such a phenomenal job.
“She shut down Andrea (Foat), the goal attack of the other team and she came up with more intercepts than we could’ve asked for from her position.”
Rosedale left Traralgon with two premiership, after defeating Glengarry 47-30 in B grade and Sale City 27-20 in C grade.
Sale City defeated Heyfield 29-19 in C grade.
Traralgon-Tyers United claimed the two junior flags, overcoming Sale City in the under 17s, 34-33, and Heyfield 30-26 in the under 15s.
