Driver narrowly misses war memorial

POLICE are investigating an incident in Yarram last week where a car narrowly missed hitting the town’s war memorial.

About 9.30pm on Thursday night, a man was travelling on Commercial Rd, Yarram, when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle and veered onto a median strip, almost hitting the monument.

The vehicle knocked over and damaged several bollards surrounding the memorial.

The male driver was not injured, but was interviewed after testing positive to alcohol.

Yarram police attended the scene after a witness reported the incident, and police want to speak with that person.

An investigation is continuing.
