A 22-YEAR-old Sale woman had a lucky escape on Tuesday morning when her car overturned in Montgomery, just north of Sale.
The 2014 Mercedes wagon she was driving veered off the Princes Highway at Yuill Rd, narrowly missing a power pole before running into an irrigation channel and rolling onto its roof.
Police said the driver, who was not seriously injured, almost overshot the intersection and tried to make a left turn while travelling too fast.
She was taken to Sale hospital for checks and observations.
Wellington Highway Patrol’s Sergeant Luke Banwell said the driver was fortunate to have just missed the power pole.
“She is also fortunate she was driving a quality vehicle fitted with numerous automated safety features,” he said.
“The driver and her family are obviously shaken up by the event and would like to sincerely thank all those that came to render assistance, especially in the first instance before emergency services arrived.”
