Flying foxes on the move

THE return of large numbers of one of nature’s best pollinators to Wellington Shire — fruit bats — has not gone unnoticed by residents.

The Gippsland Times has received several messages from people in and around Sale about sightings of the nocturnal Grey-Headed Flying Fox in Fulham, Kilmany, Maffra, Stratford, and in the heart of Sale.

Animal experts say the animals are increasingly colonising towns and urban areas because of habitat destruction.
