Party-goers turn on local police

AN 18th birthday party turned violent early Sunday morning, when police were forced to defend themselves against hurled broken bottles.

Police attended the Victorian Rail Institute Hall in Pettit Drive at 1am, to be met with aggressive party-goers brawling.

Attempting to subdue hostile offenders armed with broken bottles, police were eventually forced to use pepper spray when the bottles were thrown at officers. A 19-year-old male was arrested at the scene, and more charges are expected to be laid against other offenders.

According to police, two patients were also taken to Central Gippsland Health suffering from drug overdoses. Ambulance Victoria confirmed two male teenagers were taken to hospital, one in a stable condition and one serious.

Those with information should report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or phone Sale police on 5142 2200.
