Alleged skimmers nabbed

FRAUD and Extortion Squad detectives have charged two men following an investigation into credit card skimming in regional Victoria.

Police arrested the two men, who were travelling in a car along the Hume Highway near Benalla, on Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators also seized skimming devices and cash which were found in the vehicle.

The arrests follow a number of alleged incidents in regional Victoria in recent months, including in Heyfield, Paynesville, Warrnambool and Hamilton.

The two men, aged 35 and 37 from New South Wales, have been charged with conspiracy to defraud.

They will appear at Melbourne County Court at a later date.

A 35-YEAR-old man is expected to be charged after burning off without a permit.

Fire crews were called to a Bennison Drive, Wurruk, property about 9.40am on Wednesday.

Burn-offs are currently restricted in Wellington Shire, and people must obtain a permit from the CFA before burning off.
