HOMICIDE Squad Cold Case Team detectives on Friday arrested a man in relation to the 1986 death of Ina-Doris Warrick.
A 63-year-old man from Bairnsdale was arrested at a residential property on Lucknow St about 9am, following an extensive investigation.
Ms Warrick, aged 25, was fatally stabbed in her Ringwood home on March 21 1986.
Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Tim Day said cold case detectives had continued to investigate the case over the years, and as with any unsolved homicide the case, it was never closed.
“The good work done by homicide investigators over a 30-year period, culminated in today’s arrest,” he added.
The man appeared before the Bairnsdale Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with one count of murder, and will face court again at a later date.
