Heyfield man is jailed over false imprisonment

A HEYFIELD man who held two people against their will for three days, threatening, beating and sexually assaulting them, has been sentenced to serve five years behind bars.

The Australian Associated Press has reported Russell Owen, aged 44, pled guilty to charges of intentionally causing injury, false imprisonment, assault and sexual assault.

Journalist Caroline Schelle wrote Owen admitted to holding a man and a woman captive in his Heyfield house from December 24 to 26, 2017, after he suspected the woman, who he had a relationship with, was cheating on him with the other captive, her friend.

He has been given a five year sentence, with a three-year non-parole period.
